"The Japanese began the war from the air at Pearl Harbor. They have been repaid manyfold. And the end is not yet. With this bomb we have now added a new and revolutionary increase in destruction to supplement the growing power of our armed forces"(http://www.classbrain.com/artteenst/publish/ article_99.shtml). These are merely a few of President Truman's words said when he announced that the bomb would be dropped on Hiroshima, August 6, 1945 (http://www.classbrain.com/artteenst/publish/article _99.shtml.).

The Japanese  brought America into WWII when they bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. America was involved in the war for 5 years when Truman dropped the atomic bomb on Japan. Ultimately, 291,557 American soldiers were killed in action during World War II (http://www.world-war-2.info/casualties/).

The decision to drop the atomic bomb is one of the most heated debates in history. Truman had to consult with many of his advisors, for example, Henry Stimson, Secretary of War. The interim committee, a committee designed to help President Truman decide  what to do about the atomic bomb, founded by Henry Stimson, Secretary of War(http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9344715/The-decision-to-use-the- atomic- bomb). The second decision was when and where to drop the bomb. Through the many meetings that Truman held with the interim committee, he managed to come to a compromise on when and where to drop the atomic bomb.
